Podcast review: 'The Daily'

I have been listening to 'The Daily' from The New York Times for almost two years. It is a twenty-minute news podcast that is released every weekday morning, and I genuinely think it has improved both my English and my understanding of world events. Each episode focuses on a single story. The host, Michael Barbaro, interviews a journalist who has investigated the topic. The interviews are calm, thoughtful and never sensationalist. What I like most is the variety. One day they might cover a political crisis in another country; the next, the science behind a new medicine; and the day after, a profile of an interesting person you have never heard of. From a learning perspective, the language is challenging but clear. Most words are pronounced carefully. Spanish speakers will probably need to use the rewind button often during the first few weeks, but it gets easier quickly. If you only have time for one podcast per day, this is the one I would recommend. Twenty minutes, every weekday, and you'll know much more about the world by the end of the month.
