If you have only two days in Portugal, Porto is a perfect choice. The city is small, walkable and full of charm. Here is a short guide for your weekend. Start your Saturday morning with a coffee and a custard tart in any local bakery. Then walk down to the Ribeira, the old riverside neighbourhood, with its colourful houses and narrow streets. Cross the famous iron bridge — designed by an engineer who worked with Gustave Eiffel — to the other side of the river. Here you will find dozens of port wine cellars. Most of them offer guided tours and tastings for around 20 euros. For lunch, try a francesinha. It is a heavy sandwich with several types of meat, cheese and a spicy tomato sauce. It is not for everyone, but you should try it at least once. On Sunday morning, visit the Lello bookshop. K. Rowling. Be ready for a queue. Finish your trip with a sunset by the river. You will already be planning your return.
