The remote work revolution

Texto periodístico sobre el cambio al teletrabajo: ventajas, problemas y por qué el modelo híbrido gana terreno.

Lectura

Five years ago, most office workers travelled to the same building every morning. Today, millions of people open their laptops at home and start working without leaving the kitchen. This change is sometimes called the remote work revolution. A recent study has shown that workers in many countries are now happier and more productive at home. They save time on commuting, they sleep more, and they often eat better food than at the office canteen. However, remote work also brings problems. Some employees feel isolated. Others find it difficult to switch off in the evening, because their desk is in the living room. Managers sometimes worry about team culture, especially when new people join the company. Many companies have decided to use a hybrid model: two or three days at the office, the rest at home. This seems to be a good compromise. People still meet face-to-face, but they also enjoy the flexibility of working from home. The office is not dead, but it has changed forever.
