Nominalizacion: convertir verbos/adjetivos en sustantivos

La regla

Para registro formal/académico, transforma verbos y adjetivos en sustantivos: decide -> decision, fail -> failure, improve -> improvement, implement -> implementation.

"For formal/academic register, turn verbs and adjectives into nouns: decide -> decision, fail -> failure, improve -> improvement, implement -> implementation."

La nominalizacion es el rasgo más distintivo del registro académico y profesional en inglés. En vez de 'They decided to migrate the database, and this improved performance', escribimos: 'The decision to migrate the database led to an improvement in performance'. Suena más formal, denso y objetivo. Sufijos tipicos: -tion (decision, implementation, evaluation), -ment (improvement, development, achievement), -ure (failure, departure), -ity (productivity, complexity), -ance/-ence (performance, dependence), -al (proposal, removal). OJO: la sobre-nominalizacion mata la claridad. En estilo claro moderno (plain English), se prefiere el verbo. Aprende a usarla cuando convenga (essays Trinity ISE III, reports técnicos, post-mortems) y a evitarla cuando estorbe.
