Estilo indirecto: preguntas

"No do/did, no question mark, statement word order. Wh-questions keep the wh-word; yes/no questions take if or whether."

La regla

Sin do/did, sin signo de interrogacion, orden afirmativo. Wh-questions: usa wh-word. Yes/no: usa if o whether.

Reportar preguntas tiene dos cambios clave: 1) el orden vuelve a ser afirmativo (sujeto + verbo) y 2) desaparece el auxiliar do/did. Para preguntas con palabra interrogativa (where, what, when, why), conservas la wh-word: "Where do you live?" -> "He asked where I lived". Para preguntas yes/no, anades "if" o "whether": "Are you ready?" -> "She asked if I was ready". También se aplica el backshift de tiempos como en afirmaciones.

Ejemplos

"Where do you live?" -> He asked where I lived.

Me pregunto donde vivia.

"Are you ready?" -> She asked if I was ready.

Me pregunto sí estaba listo.

"What time is the standup?" -> Marta asked what time the standup was.

Marta pregunto a que hora era el standup.

"Have you reviewed the PR?" -> He asked whether I had reviewed the PR.

Me pregunto sí habia revisado el PR.

"Why did you push to main?" -> Elena asked why I had pushed to main.

Elena pregunto por que habia hecho push a main.

"Can you join the retro?" -> She asked if I could join the retro.

Me pregunto sí podia ir a la retro.

"When will you deploy?" -> He asked when I would deploy.

Pregunto cuando desplegaria.

Casos típicos

Wh-question -> conserva la wh-wordasked + wh-word + S + V

He asked where I lived.She asked what I was doing.

Yes/no question -> usa if o whetherasked + if/whether + S + V

He asked if I was ready.She asked whether I had finished.
