for, since y ago: duracion, punto inicial y momento pasado

"for + duration. since + starting point. ago + time + past simple."

La regla

for + duracion. since + punto inicial. ago + tiempo + past simple.

Los tres marcadores se confunden mucho. "for" indica DURACION: "for 3 years", "for 2 hours". "since" indica un PUNTO de inicio: "since 2020", "since Monday", "since I joined Nexora". "ago" cuenta hacia atras desde ahora y va con past simple, NO con present perfect: "3 years ago", "two days ago". Trampa hispana: "desde hace 3 años" no se traduce "since 3 years" (incorrecto); las opciones correctas son "for 3 years" o "since 3 years ago".

since no acepta duracion; necesita un punto.

ago va con past simple, no con present perfect.

for no se usa para años como punto inicial; para un año usa in (past simple) o since (perfect).

She has worked here ago two months.She started working here two months ago. / She has worked here for two months.
