Conectores formales (discourse markers)

"Moreover/furthermore = besides; nevertheless = however emphatic; therefore/thus = consequently; on the other hand = conversely."

La regla

Moreover/furthermore = ademas; nevertheless = sin embargo; therefore/thus = por lo tanto; on the other hand = por otro lado.

Los discourse markers son los conectores formales que estructuran emails, RFCs, retros y documentos técnicos. Anaden registro profesional. Adicion: moreover, furthermore, in addition (todos = ademas). Contraste: nevertheless, nonetheless (sin embargo enfatico), on the other hand (por otro lado). Causa-consecuencia: therefore, thus, hence, consequently (por lo tanto / en consecuencia). Casi todos van al inicio de la frase seguidos de coma. Son tipicos de escritura formal; en habla informal usa "and", "but", "so".

Ejemplos

The eval is slow. Moreover, it's expensive.

La eval es lenta. Ademas, es cara.

We hit the cache. Furthermore, latency dropped 40%.

Acertamos cache. Ademas, la latencia bajo un 40%.

The deploy failed. Nevertheless, no users complained.

El deploy fallo. Sin embargo, ningun usuario se quejo.

Tests passed; therefore, we can ship.

Los tests pasaron; por lo tanto, podemos lanzar.

The bug was critical; consequently, we rolled back.

El bug era crítico; en consecuencia, hicimos rollback.

Caching saves money. On the other hand, it complicates invalidation.

El caching ahorra dinero. Por otro lado, complica la invalidacion.

The PR is huge; thus, the review will take time.

El PR es enorme; por lo tanto, la revision llevara tiempo.

Trampas hispanohablantes

Tras un discourse marker al inicio se pone coma.

However no es una conjuncion como "but". Necesita punto o punto y coma antes.

Es "on the other hand", no "in".

Therefore no admite "of". Es un conector entre frases.

Nevertheless va solo (con coma), no con "of".
