Átomo 55

Segundo condicional: if + pasado, would + verbo

La regla

If + past simple, would + verb. Para situaciones hipoteticas o improbables.

"If + past simple, would + verb. Used for hypothetical or unlikely situations."

El segundo condicional expresa hipotesis: situaciones imaginarias, improbables o irreales en el presente o futuro. "If I had more time, I would refactor this" significa que NO tengo tiempo, pero sí lo tuviera, lo haria. La clausula "if" usa past simple (aunque no se refiera a pasado real), y la principal lleva would + verbo. Forma especial: con "to be" se usa "were" para todas las personas en estilo formal: "If I were you, I would..." (aunque en habla coloquial se oye "was"). Diferencia clave con el primer condicional: aquel es real/probable, este es hipotetico.

Ejemplos
