Preposiciones de movimiento: to, into, out of, through...

"They show direction of movement: destination, entry, exit, crossing..."

La regla

Indican direccion del movimiento: destino, entrada, salida, atravesar...

Las preposiciones de movimiento describen hacia donde va la acción. Las clave son: to (destino: "go to work"), into (entrar dentro: "walk into the office"), out of (salir de dentro: "get out of the meeting"), through (atravesar algo: "walk through the park"), across (cruzar de un lado a otro: "walk across the street"), along (a lo largo de: "walk along the river"), towards (hacia, sin llegar: "walk towards the door"), from (origen: "come from Spain"). Se diferencian de las preposiciones de lugar (in, on, at) en que aquí hay desplazamiento.

Ejemplos

I go to the office twice a week.

Voy a la oficina dos veces por semana.

She walked into the meeting room.

Entro en la sala de reuniones.

💡 into = entrar dentro.

He got out of the call quickly.

Salio de la llamada rápido.

We walked through the park to the metro.

Atravesamos el parque hasta el metro.

The new office is across the street.

La nueva oficina está al otro lado de la calle.

Walk along the corridor and turn right.

Camina por el pasillo y gira a la derecha.

Elena came from the kitchen towards me.

Elena venia de la cocina hacia mi.

Trampas hispanohablantes

Para destino se usa to, no at (at es lugar fijo).

She walked in the meeting room (queriendo decir: entro).She walked into the meeting room.

Para indicar movimiento de entrada se usa into; "in" indica posicion.

I come of Spain.I come from Spain.

El origen se expresa con from, no con of.

We crossed through the street.We crossed the street. / We walked across the street.

across = de un lado a otro de una superficie. through = atravesar por dentro.
